Big milestone by only the first of a lot more to come. I am utterly delighted for them. VMI forges a class by fire and rigor. I am impressed.

We got a quick email. The physical part is over. They were told to shower and then have dinner with their Dykes before having a ceremony. I think we should create a new "Breakout" thread once we hear from our DS'/DD's!

The rats are at their Breakout dinner with their Dykes right now. Cadre are practicing the "Cadre March-In" as we speak. The rat's guest speaker is the Reg. CO from my granddyke's class VMI '07 Sal Sferrazza Jr. He's spent the last week at VMI using his personal leave to come back, speak to the Corps, and share his wealth of knowledge with the cadets. The rats will "re-meet" their Cadre at roughly 20:00 hrs. They'll proceed to Old Barracks Courtyard, where they'll perform Old Yells of their Grand-Dykes, Dykes, and lastly, their class. T-minus 90 minutes until the newest class is welcomed. Congrats '15.

Side Note: Anyone questioning the type of people VMI produces; I submit this.

So…. I’m sitting at my computer tearing up. I am so gratified that our son chose VMI. I commend you and your colleagues for continuing the honorable traditions of VMI. We entrusted our sons and daughters to you and you have again proved worthy of that trust. RAH VIRGINIA MIL.

Wow, I'm so excited to hear that Sal Sferrazza '07 is the guest speaker at the Breakout Dinner! He was the Regimental Sergeant Major my rat year, and we (Class of 2009) pretty much idolized him. He was definitely one of the best leaders within the Corps during my cadetship.

Congratulations, Class of 2015! Especially to my grandrats, Tiffany Haines and Elisha Clark.

I'm particularly excited that the Class of 2015 broke out today, January 28th. This is something that wouldn't make sense to anyone outside the VMI community, but I think it's very neat that we're establishing a Dykeline tradition (at least four generations now) of having the same number of days in the Ratline:

Class of '06: Aug. 17, 2002 - Jan. 25, 2003
Class of '09: Aug. 20, 2005 - Jan. 28, 2006
Class of '12: Aug. 23, 2008 - Jan. 31, 2009
Class of '15: Aug. 20, 2011 - Jan. 28, 2012

Rah Virginia Mil! '15 '15 '15!

Thanks for the report. Much appreciated! The article on Capt. Sferrazza is amazing. Great choice for a speaker.

It's okay.

I cried when the Class of 2012 did their Old Yells on Jan. 31, 2009.

I've been watching the lines forming outside the barracks and now they are inside. WISH I WAS THERE

"a proud Momma"

I seemed to miss all the excitement and have yet to be able to talk to my DS...I made sure to post on FB how proud I am and looking forward to being able to talk to him at some point. :frown:

Hopefully soon easter.. ..DS had a lot to do last night because his room was a mud pit and they had a stoop session with Cadre that was "strange" because they were "chill" and he only called briefly to let us know he got through it okay. Hang in there.

Congrats to the VMI Class of 2015

Good Job new Cadets and the parents that supported them.. You earned it, and you certainly deserve it. Now, the tough academic-line begins. Keep the faith, and enjoy your first full day of freedom
