    hello all,
I just had a quick question regarding the ACT retakes.
Are candidates supposed to retake the ACT with the optional writing portion even though they initially took it the first time? For me, I did the best on the writing portion but would like to do better on other subjects.

    Thank you!

When you take English and writing in the same session the scores are combined with the English having more weight. The scoring chart can be found at http://www.actstudent.org/writing/scores/combined.html. Most civilian schools do not super score the ACT so it is to your advantage to take the writing each time.

I took the ACT twice with writing both times. To play it safe, I'd recommend taking it w/ writing.

Well... Looking at the portal, I don't think they superscore the writing portion, but rather the ENG+WRIT composite.

And I am not sure if they will accept ACT scores w/out the writing portion, even if you have taken it already.

In other words... Just as USMA2016 said, play it safe and take the writing portion. How did you do on the English and ENG+WRIT?
