Rollercoaster Round 2

The forums are great. I think the Internet as a whole has helped inform candidates about what the process is, what to expect and if it's the right place/path for them. This has helped lower attrition. On the other hand, for all us who applied before these forums and even the Internet existed... We did just fine and so did our families. The process honestly hasn't changed much in a long, long time.

on the rollercoaster for a 2nd time as DS opened up the prelimary application for the Class of 2020 the evening he got the "turndown" email for the Class of 2019. He will be off to his Plan B school in a month so the hurry up and wait mode has begun. :)

For those that have a DS/DD going on the USNA rollercoaster for the 2nd time, I am curious when the prelim application for Class of 2020 was opened and the receipt msg was received--how long before DS/DD received their candidate # or is anyone still waiting on that information to arrive?

DD received an email notification of her candidate number, etc. last week, and the letter in the mail shortly thereafter.

what was the timeframe between the TWE or turn down email and the re-apply and the new official candidate number?

DS just did the preliminary app at the end of last week when he got the official email from USNA. We haven't gotten new candidate # yet

Submitted my prelim app in the middle of may and haven't received it yet. Hopefully soon!

same here! DS received email today also stating that he was an official candidate for USNA Class of 2020 and given a new candidate #. Here's to a smooth ride on this rollercoaster this time around. :)

DS just got his schedule for the Fall 2015 semester at Schreiner Univ (Greystone) and it reads:
Gen Chem Lab (1 CR)
Gen Chem I (3 CR)
Rhetoric & Comp (3 CR)
Freshman Studies (3 CR-Greystone)
Calc II (4 CR)
Physics I Lab
Physics I (4 CR)
Total = 18 CR Hours
may my DS have "fair winds and following seas" as he claims this new chapter in his life.

NavyMom19, went to our USNA Parent Club "Welcome Aboard" event for c/o 2019 and met a USNA grad and his sister who is c/o 2019. Both were free agents at Schreiner. Fair winds and following seas to your DS!

Has anyone who has a DS/DD reapplying for USNA Class of 2020 and has received their new Candidate # via email received the actual package yet?

DS met with his advisor and filled out his freshman schedule. Because he is in the Honors College and taking Chemistry for Engineers (5 hours!), he is not allowed to take Physics until a sophomore. Does anybody think it will hurt his chances if he explains they don't allow freshman to take it?

No. I don't think that will be a problem. It says to mimic a Plebe Schedule.... plebes don't take Chem and Physics together in the same semester. I think as long as he has a math, preferably Calc, and Chem on there they will be fine.

Thanks, he was worried.
