I thought a positive story about one of the academies would be a nice change.

A great USMA graduate once said: "On the fields of friendly strife are sown the seed that on other days and other fields will bear the fruits of victory."

While we "talk smack" to one another, give each other grief, etc...etc...

We ALL wear the uniform of the armed forces of the United States.

Flieger is this a test? Do you have a price for the first candidate who knows who the "great USMA graduate" is?

In 1975 on the eve of the Army Navy game Ross Perot got into the Cadet Chapel at West Point. At 12:30 am Cadets were awakened to:
    "Anchors, aweigh, my boys,
    An-chors a-weighhhhh!"
This was followed by "The Marine Hymn".
Hundreds of cadets swarmed the chapel the military police arrived and Ross Perot was hauled off to jail.

    Hmm....never thought about that...

I just "assumed" that ANY USMA type would know instantly, and others might as well.

They really seemed to have a small humor bone when I was there, must have been an ARMY thing...

Or maybe it was the big "AIR FORCE" that was whitewashed on top of the rigging sheds...

Or maybe it was the "USAFA" on the the road leading up heartbreak hill...:shake:

And after Ross Perot finished his hour long speech which seemed to cover about 200 years of American history.

You are correct a great composition like "Anchors Aweigh" should have a jazzy little show tune like the "Marine Hymn" for an opening number.:shake::yllol:

Do you really want an answer post(so simple)?...if so, it was Gen. MacArthur quote...don't know why anyone who wants to go to USMA wouldn't know this unless they were almost brand new to the academies process or better yet the Army in general.

Actually, it wasn't a quiz...I just remember the quote from a LOOOOONG time ago, and have seen personally how true it is.

And you're correct; it is from General Mac...
