ROTC 1st board results are coming

My son found out on November 19th, after being asked by email to call his number 2 school (Bowling Green State University.) She advised he had won a four year, to his choice of several schools, and that Central State University (a semi local battalion) would be contacting him to make the presentation. Finally today, November 30th, Central State contacted the school principal that they would be coming this week for the presentation. We are anxious to make sure his number one school, University of North Georgia is one of the schools he can choose. I'm pretty confident that since this is the first round, UNG should be one of his choices.

Congratulations to you and your son on the impending offer. Still, I wonder, why the drama: why not say upfront which schools?

Also, shouldn't they be calling themselves "The Central State University"?

My son heard from schools #1 and 3 on his list that he will be receiving a 4 year offer to their schools. "Local" battalion contacted him by phone yesterday to ask when is a good time for presentation of giant check at his school. Don't know when the presentation will be. Live in Northern NJ. All good news. Now, he needs to actually get accepted to his schools!

EDelahanty, Central State is just a small unknown state school, unlike THE Ohio State University.

Well, maybe they need to think bigger. How do you think The Donald got to where he is today?

Anyway, I'm glad to see so many high schools are participating in this. My son's school was hostile to the idea of any sort of recognition of his ROTC scholarship (which was fine with him).

Are these all Army ROTC scholarships? Has anyone heard AFROTC news yet?

Our portal page was updated today with a message about the January Board deadline. I just wanted to throw out there that if you received the same update it doesn't mean you're out of the game as my son received his certificate of scholarship 2 1/2 weeks ago now. It still says Boarded.

If you got a message stating when the second board convenes, does that mean I didn't get a scholarship for the first board and will be rolled over onto the second one. Or does everyone get that?

Everyone got the same message whether you were awarded a scholarship on the first board or you were not.

When are official first board results going to be released? Like if you received a scholarship, you will be changed from boarded to winner?

EDelahanty, my son wants to go to UNG, not Central State. That is just who is coming to present the award this week.

That is the $100 question....from what ROO's have told my son the official letters are going out sometime between Dec. 9th - Dec. 15th; regarding the status change on the portals - who the heck knows.

I am confused. My son has applied to Navy ROTC-Marine Option...They supposed met November 6 and he is waiting. His application was complete. He is also applying to Army ROTC. He still hadn't completed his interview when they met in October. So he won't be considered for Army ROTC until January...So whose results are being posted here...Army from the October boards finally...or Navy from the early November boards?

It appears to me that these are only AROTC. I know there are other threads that have NROTC recipients. AFROTC board has not met yet and those results will usually be released close to Xmas.

Marine Option board results should be released just prior to Christmas.

My son was notified by our local battalion that he was a four year scholarship winner and they will make a presentation to him at an assembly this afternoon at his school. Very happy for him and all others that were selected this round. He also got a nomination letter yesterday to USMA from our congressman. He is very excited about attending the Citadel even over USMA should he get an appointment. These are exciting times for these young men and women chasing dreams to serve their country!

Congrats to TXArmyMoms son :) very nice to do this at his school. Today my son attended an awards ceremony for local Battalion and was presented his big check for the four year scholarship. Now to wait for the letter to know which schools!

I'm with you Stemmom! DS had his presentation at school yesterday, but we have to wait for the official letter to see the list of schools.
