ROTC 1st board results are coming

As we await the formal letter that lists the schools the scholarship is for, I was wondering about the transfer request process. Can the student only request to transfer it to school 2 or 3 on the list that is in the award letter? What if, by chance, the student does not get into any of those top 3 schools on their list and wants to use it for school 4 or 5 or 6 that they submitted in the application process. Is it only possible to transfer to one of the three listed in the award letter? (I understand a bit of the process and the fact that there still need to be spaces left at those schools- but a first board and early action applications might help in that case.)

Suggest you wait for the formal letter...it will explain all the options...you could also search on the forum for the 100s of discussions that have occurred over the years about the transfer process...or you might want to check out this awesome blog post https://goldenknightbattalion.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/scholarship-transfer-request/

Thanks. I did a search but didn't see posts about transfer requests for schools students requested but didn't make it to the final list of three in the letter. I'll keep looking.

My local ROTC recruiter spoke to many references, saying they cancelled the Cadet Command interview with other ROTC programs. Rumor is there is no funding for postal service.

Still no letter at our house and the portal remains at "Boarded," despite having received the certificate of award on 12 Nov. Just thought I'd update for others that are wondering, as well.

Nonetheless, the "big presentation" is more for the benefit of the very proud Mom and Dad.

No, the “big presentation” at the school is marketing for the military, no more and no less.

Clarkson – When you first posted about the big check presentations I was one of those who thought you were a bit early on an April Fool’s joke. I just wondered why they would take the manpower to do this in the fall when a presentation is typically made at a spring awards night. Oh yeah, marketing for the military.

And where do y’all live that the military is not allowed in your schools? Are these public schools? I can understand a private school having these rules, but not a public school.

My son received a letter today from a nearby university's Army ROTC congratulating him on his four-year scholarship and a scholarship certificate was enclosed. The letter says he should get the official letter in the next two to three weeks.

Congratulations to your son!! That is awesome. And regarding the official letter....it'll arrive sooner or later. We are hoping not before December 20th or so, this will give my son ample time after the holidays to visit his 3 schools again, which will allow him to make the best decision (for him) as to what school to apply his scholarship towards. Some people may disagree and want the letter now, but for my son he really liked his top 3 choices so the decision is a difficult one. I have to figure that no matter what, the award winners will have to give cadet Command their school selection in by the time the 2nd Board convenes in late January.
