I applied for NROTC scholarship as well as to USNA. I got the scholarship and accepted it. Too bad because it cannot be transfered to the school im going to. So my question is: I am entering NROTC at GWU as a college program Midshipman. Do I need to contact DODMERB and have them send a copy of my physical (qualified) to GWU or will that happen automatically?

Do you mind me asking why your scholarship can't be transferred?

DODMERB is a military thing; nothing to do with the actual college. Your DODMERB qualification, I believe, is good for two years.

Have you asked for a transfer of your scholarship to GWU?

I requested a transfer to GWU but the captain at GWU said it was highly unlikely that it would be transfered.

I understand. My son felt the same way about the school he wanted to go to--if he couldn't transfer the scholarship, he would go as a college programmer.

Hang in there. My son was originally told that a transfer might night take place until mid-June. (He was told that in early April.)

Keep in touch with the recruiter at GWU and let him/her know how much you really want the scholarship transferred. (You are going to work with him/her as a college programmer anyway.

If the scholarship doesn't transfer, work hard academically and with the NROTC unit to earn that scholarship for second semester!

    Good luck!
