Clarification, I was going from an AFROTC point, because scholarships are not tied to the school, thus, it is easier for them to clear it out compared to NROTC or AROTC in a DodMerb perspective.
I ONLY HAVE AFROTC experience, and it is basically clear cut for them. Colleges do not play into the equation. In the NROTC or AROTC equation it is a player, and I was just throwing out there, that candidates need to understand a LOT more goes into the equation, issues we do not have answers for...i.e., how does the board release.
I am known as JANIE RAINCLOUD, but in this essence I feel that there are too many unknown variables to start fearing, or acting like Snoopy over the mailbox.
Bullet and I lived through this process, so did Centh and Aglages. It ABSOLUTELY STINKS! This site is great for info, but now that the boards have met, your gut falls down to your feet when you see the scholarship threads start. It becomes a FEAR, because one more kid will jump up and say YIPPEE SKIPPEE, I got a scholarship while you have no answer and live in the unknown.
DON'T DREAD! Take deep breaths, and realize you don't know if you (candidate) or the parent of the candidate met the board.
There was a great point made the NROTC board met 2x in 12 days. The Board is filled with AD members, they can only get through a specific amount of packages. Just because you submitted back in Sept doesn't mean they will get to it at the 1st board or even the 2nd. Boards are known to roll over applicants to the next board due to time constraints.
Deep breaths. Big picture. THIS IS A ROLLER COASTER RIDE. Buckle up, and above all, say to your child, until they say NO, everything is in play.
