ROTC message has changed

Cadet Command responded to my son that the next board would be January.

Found the Army ROTC PT form, but how does he initiate the interview process?
Once your file is complete (including the PT test) CC will initiate the interview process. You should see a notice on your AROTC scholarship status site about the interview after your file is complete. We received a phone call within a week of my son's file be completed this year. As I recall we had to initiate the call ourselves last year for my daughter. Either way, once your file is complete give them a week or two to complete everything.

In my son's case, he finished the interview process way before his file was complete.

There was a major computer glitch at my son's HS regarding GPA calculation and it did not get fixed till last week of Sept, when the "correct" transcript was finally mailed. He did not do his physical fitness test until a couple of weeks ago.

Yet, he had an interview during the third of September.

I think once the online submission is complete, you can do an interview and supply all other documents later as long as the deadline for the board is met. Furthermore, my son was able to "tinker" with the online application till the day before the deadline for the upcoming board (tinkering as in fine tuning the school of intent list).

To initiate an interview, simply have your son call a PMS of a nearby battalion or any PMS he wishes to interview with. If your son has a "dream school" in mind, and if that school is nearby, I recommend that he interview with the PMS of the battalion of the school.

count your blessings. Georgia Tech is as tough as the USNA... he's probably enjoying where he is now much more than he would have enjoyed the grind at GA Tech :)

Oh I definitely count my blessings and we have said from Day 1 that he was really meant to be a Terp (can I get an AMEN, Pima? ;) ). But my point was that waiting to find out if the scholarship would transfer to the unit at GW was tougher for us than waiting to find out if he got the scholarship. We were very very fortunate that it all worked out.

Making and maintaining contact with the AROTC Battalions at your top schools is GREAT advice for any candidate. They want to know you are interested and seem (at least with AROTC) to not only have some influence in who receives national AROTC scholarships but obviously also those scholarships awarded within their battalion. Goaliedad has some excellent posts about the latter.
