I made a mistake when applying for ROTC scholarship. I put down Boston University instead of Boston College. I received the scholarship to Boston University, but was accepted to Boston College. What is the best reason to give when requesting a transfer? I also thought Boston College was a crosstown affiliate like NROTC but it is not! Please help! Thank you.

Were you accepted to Boston University, too? If so, you are officially boarded there and on their roster. If not, that is reason enough to request a transfer to BC. You really don't have to elaborate, but if you do most people would understand the mistake, I believe. Most importantly, DO IT NOW, because the units are filling up rapidly and without mercy to those who are wandering. Seriously, e-mail NSTC (or call) today.

Also meant to say, if you are on the roster at Boston University, you are allowed to put in a request to BC or anywhere else. Again, the issue of entirely filled units will determine whether or not you are boarded elsewhere. Good luck!

    Thank you.

Thank you for your response. I didnt apply to Boston University because I meant to put Boston College on the ROTC application. I sent my email off this morning requesting the transfer. I also noticed I only received a 3 year scholarship so I hope this helps my cause as they wont be paying for the first year anyway. I appreciate your help! I don't have any phone numbers to call, only an email. Do you know how to find an actual phone number?

You should have received letters from Cadet Command during the process. On that letter would have been the name of your processor along with their email address and phone number.

If you were on the Rutgers Basketball team, Mike Rice would throw a basketball at your head.

In addition to the points of contact above, this is a link to the BC AROTC contacts. I would start with the HR Administrator for BC ROTC. He is very helpful. Good luck and get on the phone. You only have an outside shot, and you need to be very active to get people on your side, and interested in you.
