Out of curiousity, what is the best way to approach dealing with applying to West Point from an ROTC program? Specifically I'm wondering about things like pursuing the ROTC nomination and who would be able to administer the CFA (should I get an officer there or try to use my MALO)?

I'm going to Ohio State by the way and most of my application is complete besides my cfa, two prof. SOE's and first quarter transcripts.

I appreciate any help or comments from people with similar experience in applying out of college.

Thanks!

As you probably already know, USMA recommends applying for all available nominations. In your case, this will include ROTC. I can't remember who all is authorized to administer the CFA, but I believe the instructions address your this question. When in doubt, always contact the admissions office or your MALO.

My son entered after a year in ROTC at a major university. He got a Congressional nom. but I would recommend trying every option. I have been told that if the candidate has good grades in high school, college as well as ROTC, it will probably help. If they know you can perform at the college level academically and have had a taste of the military and like it, it cant hurt.
