Does anyone know if applying to west point from a year of ROTC will give you a better chance at admission?

goblacknights,

Hey! I was planning on doing this if I wasn't able to gain addmission my first year for West Point. I believe if you enlist in ROTC, your chances do go up; because you can compete for presidential type nominations too. I hear these are way less competitive than average congressional nominations. Also, ROTC would help your competitiveness in the area of physical strength and leadership too. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck on whatever you decide to do!:thumb:

Your chances do go up, but I wouldn't plan on going ROTC and only then applying. You really should apply now and try to get in the first time, because even if you do go through a year or more at a different college, you will have to go through the entire 4 year program at West Point.

yea i plan to apply in high school and if i don't get in i will do a year of ROTC and then re-apply
