My son is still waiting to hear from service academy, but looking to do rotc as backup. There has been a terrible problem with the ROTC office with lost forms, etc. so he still has not gone up in front of the board. If he does not get a scholarship, how does one go about participating in ROTC without the scholarship?

His main priority is to be an officer and we are fortunate enough to be able to send him without the scholarship. He hopes to reapply to the academy if he does not receive an appointment this year and wants the ROTC experience.

I believe you can sign up for the ROTC program. Have your son contact the Commander at the college he wishes to attend for more details. Also, as a back-up plan for next year, he can apply for in-college scholarships also.

My son will be enrolling in ROTC regardless of whether or not he gets the scholarship. His PMS told him that they would be in touch with him over the summer, and he also let the admissions dept. know so that they can add the ROTC class(es) into his schedule.

Your son should just contact the PMS at the school he's attending, and I'm sure they'll get him all set up.
