Hi,

I am currently running 2 miles every day around a 7-7:30 mile pace. I would rate the difficulty of my run about 6/10. I heard that during plebe summer you could run from 4-6 miles a day. Does the running distance gradually increase over the course of the summer or is it just expected to run 4miles week one. Also what would a good pace be?

Thanks

With eight days to go to I-day, your focus should be on continuing your training as-is and NOT GETTING INJURED!

During PS, you will run short and you will run long. You will run every day - during PEP and during the day, often from one evolution to another (although plebes are not allowed to run in UoD, so that means "speed-walking-that-is-effectively-running!"). PEP is intensive, but they have had a lot of experience over the years in preventing injuries. That means you will stretch properly, warm up, do lots of intervals (hard-rest-hard-rest), and do relatively slow conditioning runs. During the first few days you will have your initial strength test (IST). That's when plebes will be sorted into running groups by speed.

It's really too late now to change your training routine - and could be risky. Keep running as you have been, and show up on I-day healthy and ready to be challenged!

During Plebe Summer you won't run 4-6 miles everyday. You'll have a couple days when you do, but most days will only be about 2-3. Also, just keep in mind that the minimum pace to pass the PRT is a 7 minute mile. As said above though, the biggest thing at this point is just to not hurt yourself trying to overtrain.
