Will USAFA provide cadets with running shoes? Should a new cadet bring a sports watch with them?

I heard from a 2013 Basic Cadet that his watch was taken away from him until A-day.

As for the running, I'd assume most of that will be done in combat boots.

Running shoes will be issued, unless policy has changed dramatically.
Watches are generally not allowed during BCT. I would bring one, because they are awfully handy after BCT.

I heard they issue you tennis shoes during basic, then after BCT you can wear your own pair.

Combat Boots

I have ran in combat boots, but never while doing PT. I can't speak for the USAFA, but in BMT good running shoes were allowed.(not worn out shoes)

BMT is a little different than BCT. You'll find that the mindset and end goal of BCT is different as well.

What Ramius said is correct. Shoes will be issued, watches will not be allowed until after BCT. Makes for great times not knowing what time it is at night knowing you will be woken up ever so kindly.

Just to clarify, you will be issued athletic shoes, and the shoes you wear to inprocessing will be stored with all your other inprocessing stuff until after Recognition. Personal athletic shoes are "civilian clothes" which are not allowed until after Recognition. If you are an IC you might be able to wear your own for your sport.

As for a watch, we brought one at A-Day. Weren't sure when her inprocessing stuff would resurface.

Thanks for clarifying!
