I'm a junior in highschool and I picked up a flyer from my guidance office today about (for lack of a better term) a big information session about all 5 academies. I am definitely attending this but I was wondering if anyone has ever attended one of these types of events before and could shed some light on what to expect it to be like. I was also wondering if anyone had any clue how competitive New York's 3rd congressional district is for the Naval Academy. (Rep. Steve Israel)

Friday, December 6th from 7-730 at Syosset Highschool in the auditorium/gym. But you need to RSVP.

We took our DS to a USAFA information forum last December in Dallas. The meetings will have many interested people from the surrounding areas in your state as well as other nearby states. There will be presentations from military officers from the various branches. They will have current cadets/midshipmen speak to the group about life at the academies. You will have the opportunity before, during, and after the event to talk to many folks about your specific questions. There will be brochures and other items from each academy. The event will last from 1 to 2 hours. The dress is business casual (dress pants and collared shirt).

Our DS received his Letter of Assurance from the USNA on August 6th. He is meeting with our congressman tomorrow (Friday) to discuss his nomination for the Class of 2018.

Hope all of this helps......

3rd district

To the OP I think you should assume that ALL congressional districts on LI are competitive.
