Sad day

Hey, did you guys see this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLA5gNStPP4 Now that's pretty embarrassing!

Note to Self: Send this to Christina.

O! say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

That's the first time I saw the song entirely. Partly heard it while prepping football food and I knew something went amiss. That was pretty bad but at least she kept her shirt on:smile: The soldiers in the audience had a "not happy" look on their faces..or am I seeing things.

AJ Hawk picked it up immediately! Did you see him smile?

Yep, ...you could see it on his face plainly. I kind of feel sorry for her. I can't imagine that she didn't practice for such a venue, It had to be nerves. Not making excuses because it should have been done right. But I'm glad to not be her right now. You can mess up just about anything and people are generally forgiving except for the National Anthem.

Go Bucs (Pirates).

I would love to welcome you all to the remainder of the best pro sport... hockey.

Not if you're a Penguin (a dull-witted flightless fishy-smelling bird) who will be without Crosby and Malkin for the rest of season (and were shut out by the Caps yesterday 3-0).

I might be wrong, but I recall yrs ago somebody else messed up on the words too...or was that the World Series?

Honestly, I didn't care who won or lost, I was rooting for Green Bay just because lately I have become anything anti-Favre, so I wanted them to win just give a little dig at Favre.

My wife is a steeler fan (not a die-hard anymore) and feels similar about Favre AND Roethlisberger so she struggled with this one! Better team won last night though and except for the worst halftime performance I can remember it was entertaining.

The half time act was horrible, and it is being roundly panned even in the news. What was funny was right before they went on, one of the Fox sports analysts declared that they saw them practicing the day before and swore this was going to be the best one ever.

I also have to say, I watched for the commercials, except for a few of them, I yawned all the way through them...am I the only one who thought enough with the movie trailers?

Favorite commercial last night...Volkswagon Darth Vader.

That rendition of the anthem didn't just suck...it was DISRESPECTFUL. Why oh why do people ALWAYS have the urge to oversing it? In Aguilera's case, she was obviously trying to make up for that pathetic flub of the lyrics. Still no excuse and after watching it at my sponsor's house, my palms went to my face for an epic facepalm.

Here is the standard. When I got back to my room, I immediately went to this video and several others so I could get at least a small sense of justice to a meaningful song thats about the COUNTRY and NOT the singer.

I agree, half-time show was awful...why did Fergie sing a Guns' and Roses song...just...why...

I'm not a fan of Aguilera; however, you sang the national anthem last year 2 times at NBA playoffs. And she didn't make any mistakes at all. So I accept her excuse that she got caught up in the moment and forgot the words. Totally legit. "I still think she's a crappy singer" (I don't like her style); but I don't think she was being disrespectful at all. She simply stumbled over the words.

Disrespectful or not, yodelling our National Anthem is just plain weird.

Perhaps you've never seen this version - Super Bowl XXXIX (2005), sung by the combined choirs of the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and accompianied by the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets.

Best ever.

agreed...I am inclined to agree that too many singers try to put their own "style" into the song and its takes the attention away from the respect of our nation and puts it on the yodeling, or any other spin they put on it. The problem is most artists try to make it their own, and that's great for American Idol, but not the National Anthem. IMHO

Predators...from the strong Western Conf.... have been since Oct. 10, 1998.

I do have season tickets to the Capitals... I just don't like them.

Best ever.

The members were then escorted out of the stadium to watch the game on a TV elsewhere. They also sang over a recording, something I think would have helped last night's singer.
