Same essay topics, same responses?

I am a reapplication for the class of 2017 and was surprised to find when my portal opened this morning that all three of the essay topics have remained the same since last years application. I started to wonder how it would affect me if I didn't make any changes to my essays. My FFR stated last year that my essays were spot on and didn't require any changes for the following year, but I didn't know that the topics were going to be identical. Was he hinting that I don't have to spend time writing new essays? Should I just make a few changes to the essays I have now? or should I write 3 completely new essays on the same topics?

Can your FF rep give you any indication as to where your weaknesses were? If it wasn't the essays, and they were "spot on," you could just keep them. If the weakness was your SAT scores or your leadership or your athletics, you'd likely be better served spending time to improve them. The essay questions have been the same since at least 2009. My perception of the questions is that they are more of a check on a candidates ability to draft a coherent paragraph in response to a question. After all, who is going to say "I can't deal with diversity"?

Not to sound conceited or anything but no my application didn't have any big weaknesses. I was just in a tough district and didn't get the appointment. I'm not gonna spew my stats but he said I was far more than qualified and reapplying is a really good idea. I joined the National Guard to give myself another nomination opportunity and an automatic Plan B if it doesn't work out again. I am hoping however that I can enter these essays in to finish up the application even earlier than last year.

Sounds like you have a solid plan in place. Here's hoping it all works out this time; given your determination, something tells me it will:thumb:

Depends on how your wrote your essays, consider adding, if it fits, how reapplying and National Guard added to your desire to attend West Point.

- I wanted to attend West Point since I was 5

- I wanted at attend West Point since I was 5 and having completed my basic training my understanding of being in the Army improved and confirmed that I want to be a soldier.
