My son's application is complete and has received a nomination from his MOC, which has been on the portal for about a month. Today we looked at his portal and noticed that the same nomination is listed again, as of yesterday. Does this mean anything?

Thanks!

Only if your son received his nominations from 2 different MOC sources! If so, I would contact your RC and notify them of this oversight! If he received 1 nomination and it is posted twice, it was probably an mistake and will not increase your sons chances of obtaining an appointment. Your son may take this opportunity to reach out to his RC and speak to him about this - it never hurts for your RC to hear your sons voice during this time of year!

Our DS got the same thing. 2 noms might mean 2 open slates so two unranked general nominations so you get a shot at both slots. Meaning it shows to the academy that MOC really supports him going there but may not do Principal noms or may have Principally nominated someone else first then put him in as a backup on that one and on the other one.

In our case DS instantly (and I mean WP is on the ball) got an LOA offer mailed out.

Good luck, sounds like good news. I don't think it's probably a mistake.

Each MOC can have 5 cadets in West Point. As a Cadet graduates or seperates from WP for any reason a slot opens for the MOC. Therefore it is possible for a particular MOC to have two vacancies in a given year.
He could have nominated you on both his slates. However, this is probably a clerical error.

MOC's are allowed only 10 nominations per services academy. While some MOC's may have 2 slots vacant, a candidate may have 2 chances to fill those slots, but that does not mean he/she has received 2 nominations from the same MOC. Thats why I would make sure its not a typo - where your son (or daughter) received 2 nominations (from 2 different MOC) and inadvertently, 1 moc's nomination was listed twice!
