Just got my October SAT scores back, and was very dissappointed, even though I improved (only my reading). Really wanted to get that math up.

Critical Reading: 800
Math: 660
Writing: 700

M+R: 1460
Comp: 2160

I am registered for the December test date as well.

To any MALOs or current cadets or grads; are my SATs good where they stand? Or should my math be higher? I expect to score lower in math as it is my weakest point, but I'd like to get to a 700. Would receiving A's in advanced/AP math courses offset my slightly above USMA average SAT math score?

As you already know I'm just a peon but your probably OK. You can compare your scores with the 2016 class here: http://www.westpoint.edu/admissions/Shared Documents/Profile2016.pdf

Of course you have nothing to lose by retaking it and you should always strive to put the best possible package together that you can. Conceivably it might be beneficial for your backup plans in any case.

If you already signed up, and want to put yourself through that TORTURE again, then go ahead! But me, I think that those scores look great. I just got mine back to and I impoved mine from a 690/620/620 to a 710/710/670 and both of my Liasons are thrilled with my result. I was disapointed with my math, which I thought I would get like a 750-800 on, but it was a huge improvement and I AM DONE WITH THE SAT FOREVER! Great feeling:). Of coruse you may be able to get slightly higher, so it is your choice, but I think your scores look great!

Thanks for the help! Now that I have maxed the CR, I would like to get that math above 700. Best package possible; agreed.

I've followed college admissions and Service Academy/ROTC admissions for about five years, and here is my gut reaction:

660/800 is about the same to me as the prior poster's 710/710, given that the Math score is more important than the CR score as dictated by USMA's curriculum (Bachelor of Science, not Bachelor of Arts). At other elite colleges, each is equally important, but at MIT, Caltech, the Engineering schools at any top 75 ranked University, AND at each of the Service Academies, the Math score holds significantly more weight.

I don't think the 660 will hurt you, but it won't help you either. It is probably in the top 45% of the admitted class of 2016. However, there is something psychologically significant about the score 700 in Math. 600 is a score you MUST clear, and 700 is a score that will help you.
