Scholarship or National Guard?

I believe the commander was talking in numbers and not percentages. I talked to him at least three times about this subject and he never mentioned percentages. But I could be wrong, but this is what I know.
Also I probably was somewhat confused and probably confused you since my writing style was pretty confusing after rereading. When I was talking to the commander originally I was just trying to get contracted since I was in the guard. But I just received my scholarship.

True, MSIII, MSIV, and Scholarship MSI and II can exhale, b/c they're all Contracted.

However, MSI and MSII not yet contracted can keep holding their breath, or better yet, immediately start a dialogue with their cadre to see if ADM will be used in THEIR Battalion in selecting who gets to Contract at the end of MSII year.

Thanks for adding that, I meant to say "Contracted Cadets" That's what I get for doing two things at once.

Great advice.

In regards to the OP's original question I offer my .02. I would take the scholarship and not try to stay in the Guard. The training "edge" that you would get for going to basic and AIT is gone after the first year participating in ROTC. I have spent twenty years in the guard and I have served in 4 states and three deployments and with ten diffrent units in the guard. This experience has shown that the level of training you would get at a unit varies due to where they are in their training cycle, what their mission is, what their funding is etc. I would take the time you would spend on guard and use it doing things with your unit and studding and enjoying college. The time spent at drill each month is not very conducive to studying for things like projects and finals. My DD is finishing up her first semester in NROTC and I think her success this semester would have harder to achieve if you added the commitment to a reserve unit. Just my thoughts.
