Just checked my portal and I was awarded a 3 year scholarship  but they awarded it to my second choice school, Florida Tech. My first choice is Embry Riddle and I want to be an aeronautical science major there. I know there is a way to try and transfer the money but can anyone who has been through the process explain how long it will take and how likely my request will be granted?

Also, I was accepted to both schools but on my dashboard it says that I'm pending acceptance from Florida Tech. Does that mean pending acceptance of the money or to the school?

    Thanks!

You do need to be accepted by the college/university that you want to transfer the scholarship to. However, it is up to CC to approve all requests, and the request may very well be denied. I really don't know what your chances would be of having your request granted, I assume it would have a lot to do with budget.

Just fyi, the exact verbiage included in the scholarship award is... "Requests for transfer of the scholarship must be sent to this headquarters with the following:

    1) A statement by the applicant stating why they are requesting transfer.

    2) A copy of the letter of admission from the college or university where the applicant is requesting the scholarship be transferred.

    3) If the request is based on the applicant not being admitted to the school indicated on the Notification of intent, a copy of the letter from that college or university indicating admission was denied".

But note... the information we received states that all transfer requests must be received by CC no later than April 12, 2014. So, you would have to accept your award, and then put in your scholarship transfer request real soon afterward to meet that deadline. I would also recommend that you contact the ROO's of the schools that you want the award transferred from and to, to give them both the heads up of your intent.

As far as the "pending acceptance" question- I may be wrong, but from what I recall it refers to (your) pending acceptance of the actual scholarship to one of the schools listed on the award.

EDIT: The target date for notification back regarding transfer requests is "no later than May 5, 2014" per the scholarship award information. Good Luck to you!

I'm no expert but based on my years here on the forum I would guess the chance of a transfer to ERAU is slim. It's always one of the first unit's to fill up. It's usually filled after the first boards. However, I don't think attempting it can hurt. Just wanted to set your expectations.

Thanks guys! I'll send in the request for the transfer and if it doesn't transfer... oh well! I'll take the award at Florida Tech!
