So I was offered a scholarship from the first board and on my portal the listed school is Michigan State. I was a bit confused at first because this was one of my last choices and a school I have decided not even to bother applying to (no offense to anyone who goes there I am just OOS and don't have interest). I also heard that the school listed on the portal could possibly be one of multiple offers that could come with the letter supposedly coming soon. Is this true? Because someone told me that they list the first alphabetical college on the portal if you have multiple offers. This would make sense in my situation--Michigan State would've been first alphabetically out of the seven colleges I selected.

Yes there may be multiple schools in the offering letter, especially from the first board. There is no rhyme or reason to the school listed in the portal, at least based on last year's evidence.

I'll repeat what has been said many times over, never list a school that you have no interest in attending, if you do then delete it before the board meets.

Schools are not listed alphabetically for the most part.

You can apply to CC for a transfer of your scholarship. The process is made easier if the schools at in the same brigade, good luck.

    @ CM11
Yes, that was me. But also, I did not think that I had gotten the scholarship towards Notre Dame (recall me saying that I wanted to transfer it there). If it's true that it is towards ND, I may give it a second thought.

Do you understand there is a commitment even if you get the scholarship to ND?

Your right, the commitment is the same at every school. Even with a 4 year scholarship every cadet has the first year before they are locked in to an obligation with the Army.

I would not have applied for a scholarship that I did not understand, especially with the amount of effort that was required for this one. Yes, I am aware of the one year buffer and such technicalities. I don't know why you are so shocked that I am not jumping up and down to accept the offer; it's the next decade of my life I am offering up to the army--I'm 17 and have not experienced enough of life yet to just jump head first into such a commitment without a second thought.

I am curious, did you get a scholarship offer to Notre Dame?

Shouldn't be so surprised considering your previous posts.

Nothing wrong with second thoughts, better to have them now then when your deep into the program.

If this is the only reason you are giving ROTC a second thought, it's the wrong reason.

No, I did not. I got my #1, #2, and #4 choices. #3 was Notre Dame.
@jcleppe - Yes, at one time I was very committed to being an officer, hence the quoted line. But, I see my hint of doubt even then in the last three words. I do not remember posting that but I think it's cool that you were able to pull that out.
