    Hi all,

During 4th quarter of junior year I was caught skipping class because I wasn't prepared for a quiz and feared a bad grade. For that I was suspended for 2 days. However, my understanding principal told me that it will not be in my records.

How should I deal with this during my application? I have my ALO interview tomorrow and I plan to ask her the same question. But I'm assuming she'll say I mention it on my application.

Unless there's a place to state that you've been suspended, I'm not sure why it would come up. And unless you're required to state it somewhere or the experience was life-changing…. I don't see any reason to bring it up.

Was this an out-of-school suspension or an in-school-suspension?

Personal opinion of an old ALO...

I appreciate it when I'm told of something like this. I will then ask the typical "why, what were you thinking, how did you rectify it, and how will you deal with this when it happens again because it will..."

And then when I speak with your teachers, I'll ask straight out about it. And if I hear what I "typically" hear: "Oh...he/she is a great kid, it was a one-time mistake, no big deal, did a 2-day and that was that. Been great every since, it's not even in the records."

Then I don't worry about it but I did learn a bunch about my candidates integrity! :thumb:

I believe there is part in the application where I have to explain if I have ever been suspended/expelled.

Thank you for the advice. Because my teachers and I are both aware of the incident, I plan to mention it during the interview today.

At least you didn't do what some young "gentleman" did at our local high school last year. He had a quiz, didn't study, panicked, and called in a bomb threat. On his cell phone. Not only were the police and feds after him, all the students were angry too. As I tell my fifth graders, "Think before you act. Your brain really is your friend."

Ah...hah.. THAT incident. Brain sure is. But it's your choice to let it stay your friend or turn it into the worst enemy lol
