My son is primarily interested in AROTC.

However, he is also interested in NROTC marine option. I understand the NROTC scholarship is primarily given to the science/engineering majors.

Does this apply also to the Marine option?

In general, how difficult is it to get an NROTC Marine Option 4 year national scholarship for a non science/math/engineering major?

The Marines don't care what your major is. There is no preference for science/engineering.

is this a party line for giving out 4 year ROTC scholarship also?

Major

We have been advised by 2 USMC officers in the process that Major selection is not a determining factor in receiving a NROTC-Marine Option 4 yr Scholarship. Bachelors degree course of study, we were told, is the requirement.

The requirement for a Bachelors degree is correct for NROTC Marine Option. While attending my daughter's freshman orientation (while parents were allowed) following the Navy side speaking of the Science and Engineering requirements and Tutoring that they would have available for Math (Calculus & Physics) they were followed by a Marine Major speaking who got quite a laugh when he came up and pointed out that if the kids would pick Marine Option those classes need not be an issue.

Unlike the Navy, the Marines dont really care about your major. Take that with a grain of Salt, please. The only USMC MOS I know of that requires a specific Major is JAG. Whereas the Navy requires a lot of Science classes. For my M.O. Scholarship I only have to take 2 or so "required" classes which are History Based whereas all the Navy Scholarships Midn have to take Calculus,Physics, etc in College.
