ALCGPSC 048/13
SUBJ: UNIFORM GUIDANCE AND RESULTS OF UNIFORM BOARD. 45

A. Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6(series)

1. This ALCGPSC issues new guidance and reports the results from
Uniform Board No. 45. The following changes have been approved and
are effective immediately:

(A) The SDB "Alpha" uniform is reinstated. The SDB coat will
be worn with the dress white long sleeve shirt and Blue four-in-hand
tie. All other items including accoutrements shall be the same as the
SDB "Bravo" uniform. When prescribed by command authority, it shall
be worn for evening functions and in situations that require more
formality than the SDB "Bravo" uniform, but less than the Full Dress
or Dinner Dress uniforms. The service aiguillette is worn with
service dress uniforms including the SDB "Alpha." The dress white
long sleeve shirt remains a seabag issue item (never discontinued),
and is available through UDC.

It's come full circle. We had SDB alphas when I was a cadet. Maybe we wore it five times in four years? Maybe less. Eventually we just had a white shirt and you'd think "wait, what is this for"...
