Sea Time

    Can Midshipmen choose (if possible) to do their sea time on US Navy warships, or does it have to be aboard Merchant vessels?

    Yes I know Mids that have been on Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers

    Yes, but I believe you can do a maximum of 30 days (at least that used to be the rule) partly because you have the limitation of not being able to do a sea project on board due to security issues. It always used to be second sea year only, provided you have passed all your previous sea projects, have good evaluations, etc ...

    I also understand that time spent on US Navy ships is unpaid time, while time at sea onboard a merchant ship is compensated by the shipping companies.
