SEALs/Kings Point?

KPEnguneer,

risked their life (when you weren't willing)
First, you don't know anything about me. Second, are you seriously saying that everyone in uniform risks their life? That is so ridiculously wrong I am actually laughing out loud right now.

No offense, but you are emotionally attached to KP, and not looking at this objectively from a taxpayer perspective.
I am emotionally attached to the money that I work for.

The fact that you bring up the pay for the military, but not acknowledge KP grads salary proves my point.
You brought up military pay first when you complained that your COLA wasn't big enough.

Do you have a bone in the fight? Are you an alumni, a parent of a mid, a candidate?
Do I really have to answer that?

Explain to me why to you 415K per mid is worth it regarding your tax dollars. Business, not personal.
I have never once said it was

Come on now. It's pretty true, unless your SELRES. Then it's a whole other ball game. By the way attending a recent SSO muster, it was brought up how the Navy will no longer pay for BST or RADAR renewal. Also that the Navy will soon be giving walking papers to SSO IRR officers who are not sailing or not working for the government.
Finally when one of my best friends makes O5 and only did 3 ATs, the program is a joke.
You proved my point. They didn't used to even have musters and they didn't used to give people walking papers. I'm not saying it is hardcore by any stretch of the imagination, but it is tighter than it was when we were ENS.

Ok your right I'll give you that! I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong.

Come on now! I made a mistake about flashing light! I haven't had to worry about that for years.
How was I wrong on Liberty?
That was the old unspoken addendum to the HC ... "A M/N will not lie, cheat or steal ... except when it comes to liberty". I added the CG since we actually work now.

Remember this if you go after Kings Point you go after the other Academies so tread lightly on this subject with your congressman.

I wasn't actually suggesting that. Trying to subtley point out how ridiculus it was to go after someone who has nothing to do with the funding of KP.

I was just wondering if the original poster will ever get to participate in a SEAL program. Wasn't that the crux of this thread:thumb:

He probably is weighing it against $110k/yr working every other month. Sorry, I can't resist.

Navy4ever, we moved on after that question was answered in first couple pages. You know how this all works. We are just too lazy to start the new " grab your torches and pitchforks" thread.
For the newbs ( term of endearment), this discussion is in many places deeply hidden in innocent enough sounding threads entitled; Can I get LASIK or PRK? And my favorite; Where can we find completely white motivated socks?
:yllol:
Start from the beginning of the KP threads and read froward. You will learn the culture, meet some great characters and get a better idea about KP. The official information they want you to really know should be all on their website. The stuff some wished they knew, is all here. Along with real honest perspective from tireless hard working parent association reps, and colorful alumni and occasionally a few current midshipman. You will uncover it one gold nugget at a time.

USMMA Detractors Need to Go Away

A very sad thread has developed. I am disgusted with these self proclaimed know-it-alls espousing their bulls**t opinions on what should be or should not be the future of the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

My son will graduate from this fine institution next year , and then become a VERY productive citizen within the US economy, regardless of the path he chooses to take.

If you old cranky losers have a problem with your current station in life, please do not take your frustrations out on the current best and brightest.

Why not retreat to the service academy forum of your choice and argue your nonsense? People like you are never happy and continually complain and criticize.

Luigi,

As mentioned other SA cadet/mids must pay back some things which are automatically deducted. Do you know why their actual pay after the deduction would be?

Depends. More deductions for a 4/c so their net is much lower than a 1/c who doesn't need to buy as much.

Monthly net pay can range from $100 as a 4/c to upwards of $700 for firsties.

I'm sorry, we're not concerned with cadet pay now too are we?

Pima, with the way you're talked about it, I should be seeing members of AD military on street corners asking for food or money....

I'm not, just providing facts in a thread filled with emotion.

A question was asked.

A question was answered.

It's the way of the forum, unless you've suddenly come up with a better idea of how this thing is supposed to work?

That was more directed at Pima, Luigi, but because you wanted to pop off this response, maybe we can get together over a beer and talk about our days in a Coast Guard wardroom. You know, like old-times sake.

Pima just might call for back up you guys
:tomcat: Be nice!

Nah, she doesn't even need it. She is someone I would want on my side in a war of words for sure!

Couldn't have said it better myself, NYBEAR. Lots of cranky losers with a lot of time on their hands.
Prospective KP students and their parents should pay attention to the positive aspects about USMMA that are discussed on this forum. As a parent of a current Mid (2015), I wish I would've done that early on rather than read the rantings of a vocal minority about the problems at or with the school. My son has had an enormously positive and life-changing experience at KP so far. I am constantly in awe of what he's learning, what he is experiencing, and what kind of man he is becoming. I couldn't be more grateful that he was admitted and I know beyond any doubt he will graduate and serve his country with pride and integrity.
