SECNAV Nomination

I finished my application mid December. I heard back from my congressman / BGO last week but haven't gotten any letter or anything yet.
Thanks for sharing. My DS was told last week he would be hearing soon. Did your CO give you the news?

Ahhhh I just got awarded my acceptance to NAPS I look forward to meeting everybody. I am speechless and can't wait to start! I have a lot I want to do to prepare. It's just more motivation to get even more fit. And study more. Just wanted to give an update

JoelBradford congratulations on your acceptance into NAPS! Might I ask if you have a Combat Deployment under your belt? I'm also an enlisted applicant and am wondering if deployments helps your package.

Thank you everyone. I have had 2 deployments. I did let admissions know about them. I do not know how they weigh them in admissions. But I believe they would help. It was a 6 month deployment and 4 month deployment. Let me know if you have any questions

Based on my DS experience I'd say your overall active duty package has more weight. Honor Grads, Certificates of Commendations, pro/cons, etc. My DS did not have combat deployment. He is currently at NAPS but had also received a LOA for a direct admit. Based on that I'd think combat isn't a make or break deal.

Yes I should have specified as well that I wouldn't consider my deployments combat deployments?. We were deployed In the desert supporting s.o. which is our mission. But I'm not a marine or in the army or infantry ha I just make aircraft fly so that's why I said deployment. But it wasn't typical navy deployments like on a ship. So we actually just call it det short for detatchments but this is all technicalities which I don't think really matter. But I wanted to specify I wasn't in combat gunning but supporting those who may very well be.

Just got word that my DS received his LOA today. Pass Friday's physical and he has a direct appointment to the class of 2019! This is a great day!

Yes I am as well I am looking forward to meeting and working with everyone. Anybody get their report packet yet. I had to do my career way points before I could put my extension in so I can have the appropriate time needed to go to naps and the academy I am very excited
