MY son is a USNA applicant and was DQ'd because he failed to meet the hearing standards for one ear. He is now awaiting word from the USNA re: a letter of appointment. I understand if he is offered, USNA will automatically request a waiver from DODMerb. Should we send DODMerb copies of letters from physicians, teachers, etc. now demonstrating that he has no adverse effects from the hearing loss in his daily activities? Or should we wait until we get the final word from the USNA? I understand that if he is not offered an LOA, no the waiver issue is moot. Thanks.
