Senior Year High School

Its been two weeks now...

Its been approximately two weeks now and on the ROTC Scholarship Status portal it says that Cadet Command still hasn't received my PMS Interview.

Here are my questions:

1.) Is all this because my interviewer still hasn't sent the results of the interview to Cadet Command?

2.) Similar to #1^, should I be concerned that my interviewer still hasn't sent the results? Is there a process where the local ARTOC Battalion where i had my interview at deliberate the result of the interview before sending it in?

3.) IF it is because the interviewer probably still hasn't sent in the results of the interview, should I send him an email or possibly give him a call?

I mean yeah the next board is not until January but, I just want to know.
Thanks guys!

It may be that your interviewer has not sent in the official results of the interview, or there may be a glitch in the system. A few weeks after I had my interview the results were still not submitted, so I emailed the ROO at the school I interviewed at and was told that there was a glitch in the system. Also, Thanksgiving is approaching so the ROTC battalion may be busier than usual. Nevertheless, I suggest you give it some time and then email the ROO or PMS to see why your interview has not been submitted. Good luck!

rednosis,

Repeat after me:

HURRY UP AND WAIT!

This will be your mantra in the military as long as you are in the military. It is said with laughter, but it is the truth.

The fact is the Interviewer may not be submitting their results by piece meal, instead in bulk.

At least for the AF there are some key words that send loud and clear messages to the board regarding their opinions.

There is a difference between MY TOP choice, and ONE of MY TOP choices. The boards are AD members, and they know the difference, because it is something they have seen on their own OPR/PRFs.

I get you want to move forward, they know the cut off dates for your paperwork to make the next board.

Knowing that, which would you rather have:

Rushing it so you can see on your portal it was submitted and it saying ONE of or wait and it saying MY TOP.

Good things come to those that wait.

Rednosis,

Relax.

It takes them FOREVER to update the system. When I had my interview, my interviewer put the results into the system the very same day, it took over two weeks for it to be processed and for it to show up on my scholarship page as an update. If you are concerned that he has not input your interview results, you can send him a quick email verifying that he has indeed done so. If he tells you that he has, believe him and let that be the end of it. I know it's difficult to let go, but you're going to have to at that point because things will then be your control and out of his because once he hits enter, there is no way for him to know whether or not you receive a scholarship. Most don't know the results until their told by the awardee.

I was thinking the same thing with sending them in bulk. Thanks for the advice Pima, always helpful they are.

Hopefully it isn't a glitch. Nevertheless, I think I'll go with what you said and give it some more time and just be patient about it. I'll email the PMS the week two weeks before Christmas if the status on the interview still hasn't changed. Thanks again!

Quick update

Alright quick update guys,

So I did end up emailing the officer that interviewed me and he submitted it right away. So now on the status portal it says for the interview, "Received".

Only thing that's throwing me off is that on the bottom it still says the message " You have been selected for an interview. Please contact the Professor of Military Science at the school of your choice."

Is this a glitch with the system? Cause I'm almost 100 percent sure that there isn't a secondary interview until I am notified that I've been awarded a scholarship.

Have you tried emailing your Cadet Command application liason? They may be able to confirm if the interview is fine or not. And you shouldn't have to be interviewed again if you get a scholarship. I was awarded one last year and did not have to, unless if they have changed it.

Don't be surprised if it has taken a while for the results to be posted over the last 2 weeks. Its probably a timing issue. Many ROTC personnel have been concentrating on grading finals, processing on campus scholarships, submitting awards, and arranging military balls, dining-ins, or winter commissioning ceremonies. Priorities will shift as soon as the semester ends.

I think you should by okay. My son was interviewed on 26 Nov and his interview was showing received on 27 Nov. He still has the same message at the bottom of his page that you mention above but the Cadet Command Liaison said that wasn't an issue as they have the interview in the system. Good Luck!

Many thanks! I will contact the Cadet Command Liaison to confirm that they have my interview in the system.

That message can sometimes stay there until you receive the scholarship. If the page says your interview has been received you should be good to go.

Make sure that the colleges you apply to know that you are interested in ROTC. Many colleges are actively looking to increase their military population.

+1 to Marist, some colleges for admissions will give an edge. VT is an example, as for Corps, if you state you will be joining the Corps, you get an edge.

The edge to that sword is if you decide before a certain date, this is not for you they can dis-enroll you from the college. The reason why is what Marist is stating, military population, and to them you did this to gain admission with no desire to fulfill that part. Hence, they place a certain date you must remain in the program.

If you are a HS student and are considering joining Army Reserve or Army National Guard be very careful when scheduling Basic and AIT. You need to make sure that you will be available to start Fall Semester of your freshman year on time. Failure to do so may have an adverse effect on your ability to compete for scholarships.
