There will be a Service Academy Info Night near where I live, featuring reps from USMA, USNA, USAFA, Coast Guard, The Citadel, ROTC Programs, Norwich... the list goes on. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone had experience at a similar event. I've been to a few college fairs before, is this anything like one of those? Also, what is the appropriate dress code?

I would recommend business casual for attire. They are somewhat like college fairs although they will also have speakers from each of the schools do their spiel prior to letting you get access to the tables. They can be quite informative. There will also be someone, I'm sure, who covers the entire application process to the Academies. I definitely recommend attending if you haven't been to one.

Also, they usually have the representative(s) from the congressional office(s) from that area. Sometimes even the member of congress shows up. Great chance to hear about their selection process and make a good impression.

Go.....

Dress nice, have fun, introduce yourself to folks, and ask ask ask questions.

Definitely go if you can. I have been to a few "fairs"/info sessions about academies and rotc. They give a lot of good info and ways to improve your file, as well as allow you to meet representatives in your area.

Yes. Dress nicely! Good eye contact and handshake. Introduce yourself. Don't ask questions you can find the answer to on the website.

We went to one last year and the rep my DS talked to ended up being the person who did his Academy interview.

The Info Night

The info night was a great success for me, and I'm really glad I went. I was able to get more insight on the nomination process, and was able to speak to a West Point alumnus (Class of '95, so while most of the info was valid, there was some outdated info) at length about the nuances of his application process and his experience at the Academy.
10/10 Would recommend anyone in eastern MA considering a Service Academy or ROTC to attend this next year.

Glad you got some interesting info out of it. :thumb:
