I've heard that there are very few spots for incoming plebes on shooting sports teams, is that true? If so how competitive are they? How do you get involved with shootings sports?I'm primarily looking at trap and skeet.

Thank you

Why the PM's? Others may be interested in the answer too. After all, that's what this forum is for.

I wondered that also. It isn't like the answer to this question is a secret. Next time that user logs on they get a message indicating they have PM's so it seems like the main reason to post that is for everyone else.

It's very possible that the posters were giving contact information to people who are involved in trap and skeet, etc. In which case they likely did not want the information to be public.

True, but they can do that without telling everyone else, that is the point of a PM. The person you send a PM to gets a system notificaiton the next time they log on. Everyone else does not need to know that.

Sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone. DS is a plebe on the trap and skeet team. Anyone else have questions that I can help with?

From what I've gathered from PM's, Rifle is very hard to get into without prior experience; 5 plebes were added to the Trap and Skeet team after tryouts in November; the academy does provide firearms of an unknown(so far) model; They practice at a local range.

Why all the paranoia? If they are sending contact information it should be sent PM and not everyone logs on when they are visiting the forum so they might not be aware they have a PM.

Tobes: If you are interested in combat arms there is the Combat Arms Team and the Infantry Skills Team also does some firearms training.

Slight correction
DS practiced at a local range BEFORE he made the team while on weekend liberty. Since tryouts were in November, it was a long time from plebe summer to November without practicing. Team practice, as I recall, did not start up until February and it's twice a week.
They are all Barettas. The asst coach is somehow connected to Baretta.

Thank you AikiBudo!

How about highpower rifle? I have been shooting highpower service rifle in matches for 3 years now. I had a spot to be USAFA's rifle team manager, but since I didn't get in to USAFA, i'm trying to look for what to do at Navy.
