    Well said. Plebe candidates may not realize it at the time, but all who survive to graduate will come to understand that this description exactly nails it.

    I liked the comments as well. DS learned about KP from his uncle, a retired Navy SWO who went to Duke as a ROTC. (He actually started out at USCGA, but failed the color blindness test when he arrived. Apparently he still had time to accept the ROTC scholarship. But I digress....) When DS was in high school and looking at Annapolis - but said he wanted to do marine engineering - uncle encouraged him to look at Kings Point. In his view, some of the best engineering officers he served with came out of KP. "They're the ones who know how to drive the boat!"
