Hey guys, I want to be a journalist or screenwriter. Would you recommend going to USNA? Becoming an officer is a personal goal of mine, but I ultimately want a writing career.

"Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."

UCLA has a great film school and Columbia has a great journalism college. Maybe you could fly back and forth and earn both degrees at the same time.

I'm assuming you're new to SA forum because you should know that putting your real name isn't the best especially if you become appointed and some cadre will be looking through the forum (and it's just internet safety thing). If you're not, sorry but I won't be too critical about posting the same question on different SA's
it really depends on what you really want. If you want to join the military, then I'd say yes but if you're just interested for good or free education, it would be hard to get through 4 years in SA. This is just me, but I want to be a pharmacist no matter what and I have option of going through 7 year direct program without pcat or apply to usna having to go through pcat.
I like the idea of military college and serving so I would gladly go through pcat but you have to decide for yourself what you really want

He'll probably get just as much attention from cadre as that other kid from a couple of year ago. Can't remember his full name right now....Sigmund something or other. It's one that definitely stood out.

If your desire to serve outweighs the 5 year hold on your true passion/career, maybe a SA is for you. Other than the experience of it all, I don't see any benefit to your film/ writing career.

Carl Jung is not his/her real name and they posted the exact same question on the other SA forums as well. Most likely a troll.

I am surprised this dumb Marine picked up on the pseudo name quicker than most!

"Carl Gustav Jung (/jʊŋ/; German: [ˈkarl ˈɡʊstaf jʊŋ]; 26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961), often referred to as C. G. Jung, was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who founded analytical psychology.[2] His work has been influential not only in psychiatry but also in philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, literature, and religious studies. He was a prolific writer, though many of his works were not published until after his death."

You can write a whole bunch as an officer and you can have a writing career once you separate.
