Should I -

- talk to my school's Guidance Counselor about the USNA? In order to recieve help with the admissions , nominations, etc?

From my experience to applying:

Counselors are very busy, but are helpful (letters of recommendation, transcripts, confirming activities records, etc.) Although I wouldn't "trust" them to guide you through the app. step by step, unless your school has a specific "college counselor" (like mine, although she is a little busy b/c we only have one and she is also a regular counselor) who should probably have all the info. But in reality, the process isn't that hard to figure out if you read the stuff the navy has on their website, especially this: http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/steps.htm
It will give you all the steps in brief description, but once you received the candidate packet, you can really see all the things you need to do, the stuff you've done, etc. in one small page.
Best of luck to you in your application. By the way, what class you thinking about applying for? I've begun my application for the class of 2016 (I would begin in the fall of 2012, so I think that would be right?)

I was thinking of talking to one of the College/Guidance Counselors in my school for helpful advises such as what classes I may take to get me academically fit or taking the SAT/ACTs, things in that nature. Other than things involving transcripts, etc. I probably will be doing the process myself.

I was thinking of applying for USNA c/o 2017.
