Should we have a Summer Programs Discussion Board?

I believe that we should incorporate a Service Academy Summer Programs Discussion Board. The Summer Programs are brought up on a limited basis on the individual Academy boards and it seems you have to dig to find an answer you are looking for. Sometimes it is not even there at all. While I understand that the main purpose of the Academy discussion boards is to answer questions regarding the admissions process, but the Summer Programs serve as a great method of recruiting motivated applicants to the Academies. Admissions Officers and Alumni Representatives (ALOs, BGOs, AAPs, etc.) could answer specific questions on the application process and what the session entails. I feel as a Summer Programs applicant that other applicants could benefit from a dedicated forum based on the Summer Programs. There are probably quite a few juniors on the site and many will be applying to a single Summer Program or to multiple Summer Programs. If this is not a feasible option, sub-forums in each Academy's discussion board could be implemented. I look forward to everybody's thoughts on my idea.

Could be useful. Especially regards all the questions in the ROTC programs...

I think Usnavy2019 is referring to SLE, NASS, etc. for high schoolers, not necessarily ROTC (college) summer programs.

See, that's what happens when one is trying to speed read and get out the door... my bad.

I think one single forum dedicated to summer programs could get too confusing, because they would all be mixed together and you'd still have to sift through them to find the specific academy you were looking for. I like the sub-forum idea within each main academy's forum. To play the devil's advocate though, there is a search tool on here, so you don't actually have to go page by page to look.

Thank you very much for the recommendation. We always appreciate an opportunity to get feedback on the site and look at how we might do things differently.

At this time we don't have any plans to incorporate separate discussion boards for summer programs. As the programs are specific to each academy, it makes sense to keep the discussions separate for each academy. Also, as summer program applicants are individuals who are interested in attending the academies, we feel it's best to have those discussions within the main academy boards.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you again for the feedback.
