Check out USAFA's website and see the list of areas that affect the the education of the cadets. It is certainly much more than sports. ( sorry, I do not no how to post links)

It is pretty extensive. I was surprised they shutdown the gym. Even prisoners Guantanamo are allowed PT facilities.

The biggest concern is the shutdown of academic support programs. This will certainly impact students who need these services.

The gym isn't actually shut down--I think that may refer to the base gym, not the cadet one. The gym DOES have reduced hours; it says it will have them "until October 10" (I think it was the 10th--verification anyone?). What happens then I'm not sure.

It's true that the academic support stuff is down, and with instructors teaching more courses, EI is probably harder to get. (Haven't tried to schedule any, so I'm not sure.) Peer tutoring is still on. And prog is delayed/canceled, since there's no one to input grades.

Yeah, they're talking base gym. The gym is open with reduced hours(1100-1930 M-F) until the beginning of PE C-Go(11 Oct) or the end of the shutdown, whichever comes first. At that point hours will be reassessed.

Oh, and EI is harder to get...my Arabic teacher is teaching 6 sections and only has one period a day available for EI right now.

I'm not 100% sure I would call the facilities at GTMO "PT facilities".... they certainly have plenty of run to play soccer or pass a ball around.

USAFA Closed down programs and stuff

As the father of a C4C this concerns me a lot.

- Cadet study centers are closed, including the cadet library, media lab, and tutor centers.

John
