I am a scholastically qualified candidate for the class of 2014 and have been checking my CIS for what seems now "by the minute" for an update on any recieved nominations. I know the deadline was only yesterday, the 31st, but I was curious if anyone knew if (1) the CIS will tell you that you did not recieve a nomination (2) There is an alternative way to be informed i.e. letter in the mail, or (3) roughly when I would find out if I have recieved a nomination or not. Anything is apprichiated!

1. I am pretty sure that if you do not receive a nomination, nothing on your page will change; it will still say no nominations received.

2. Most people get a letter directly from their congressman or senator informing them whether or not they got a nomination from them. The academy doesn't notify you about nominations from MOCs.

3. In the rare case that you are not notified by your congressman or senator, it can take some time to update the CIS since the deadline just passed and a rush of information was probably just sent in. Also I hear of people who don't hear from their MOC right away and that they see their nomination updated on the CIS. But I still think that they hear from their MOC. Keep checking though...

Best of Luck!!

Most people do hear (either way) from their MOCs long before CIS posts the noms. Given that the deadline has now passed, you can try calling your MOC's office and asking politely about your status -- unless the MOC has requested you do not call them for updates. They may or may not tell you on the phone; it's up to the individual office.

Also, don't call your BGO. I guarantee that you will know whether you've received a nom before he/she does.

My son received his letter of nomination from our Congressman and also a letter from each Senator saying that there was a lot of competition and excellent candidates but that he didn't receive their nomination.

Since USNA is not aware of all the candidates who have applied for a nomination from any of the MOCs, there is no way it could provide a non-nom notification. USNA will only note nominations received and the sources.
