Has anybody heard that 2014 will be 450 strong for indoc as opposed to the typical ~300 in previous years?

Unless they're hiding an inflatable dorm somewhere and haven't shown it to anyone else, that would be one heck of a surprising trick.

I heard the today that the 345 will report to Indoc. Not 450, but still a very large entering class.

I haven't heard the numbers but as vampsoul indicates I've heard the appointment acceptance rate is higher than historically norms for all 5 federal service academies: USMA (1802), USNA (1845), USCGA (1876), USMMA(1943) and USAFA (1954) (listed in order of their founding - year listed in parenthesis).

One could debate the actual year the USMMA was established as the U.S. Merchant Marine Cadet Corps was established with the passage of the Merchant Marine Act of 1936. 1943 is used most often, for example on the USMMA T-Shrts, etc. one might buy on campus, etc. as that is when the current Academy at Kings Point, NY was dedicated by then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on September 30, 1943.

Why I choose this thread to include this piece of relatively non-sequatar information with the other readers of this forum I really do not know... I just thought it might be useful to remind everyone USMMA is not the youngest of the Service Acadamies and I've never felt it was a "red headed step-child" myself.

I heard about 330-ish... though they had expected just under 300. They sent out 600 acceptances as I understand it..
