Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows when plebes are allowed to have access to the internet/cell phones/skype? If I have a web camera sent to myself during plebe summer can I use it for skyping once the academic year starts?

You can video chat during the ac year, but skype specifically is not allowed. It doesn't really make any sense because oovoo, google chat, AIM, and every other video chat client is allowed, but for some reason that's how it is.

Skype isn't banned because it is a video/chat function. It is a peer-to-peer client that has known vulnerabilities.

I would not recommend sending it until the academic year starts -- there is absolutely no point of having it during the summer. Also, each company's training staff dictates if plebes can (or when) use chat clients.
