SLE acceptance

I did not receive an email either. Hopefully they can send all rejection/acceptance letters by tomorrow instead of waiting until April.

Well that's an impossibility, unless you (and everyone else) want to forego a chance to attend when someone else rejects their offer due to the dates or whatever. Why one would want to do that just to have certainty sooner is beyond me.

Hmm I see you have a really good point there. I take back what I said! haha

Bottom line - One session - about 500 people selected from 4000 applicants - selectees were notified today by email. Some of these 500 will decline and be replaced with other high-ranking candidates.
Do not be too discouraged. Both of the selectees for the class of 2017 in my Congressional District were turned-down last year for SLS.

How much time were the selected given to respond? DD was a little disappointed that she did not get the email selection, but we are moving on to other summer programs to round out her summer. I suppose the non-select emails will go out soon, if they are quite low on the selection list and I would guess those that are highly ranked on the wait list will have to wait until the end to see if they get in.

The email says to respond if you decline and to sit tight for further instructions in the next couple of weeks if you accept. I wouldn't read too much into that time frame though as it may take some longer to decline if they cannot work out the dates.

Does anyone have an idea of how much of an indication this year's SLE will have on admission? I was not accepted to USAFA SS, although I was accepted to Navy. From what I've read for these two seminars is that an invitation to attend is pretty much no indication of strength, but admissions is "showcasing" the academy to unrepresented districts . Although for SLE, the acceptance email is much more encouraging, saying that the person is a top candidate for admission if accepted to SLE. What do you guys think?

Question Regarding SLE Acceptance

If anyone can help me I would be very appreciative.

I never received an email saying I was offered a slot in SLE, however I logged on to my Candidate Portal today and there was a link to SLE forms.

Are these forms just posted on everyone's Portal, or is this just me? Does it mean I got accepted but did not receive an email?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I haven't gotten any emails either but I don't have anything in my portal about SLE, so you probably got in.

I hope so. I'm just a little confused that I didn't receive an email telling me I was accepted.

Guess I'll just keep waiting.

If your email has a SPAM folder, check there. Otherwise I'd be making some phone calls. Perhaps the email was somehow automatically tossed and deleted by your email provider.

Checked the Spam folder and there was nothing there.

I've tried contacting USMA admissions, but they are currently closed. I'm trying to get in contact with my FFR.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Just called my FFR and turns out I was accepted!

Apparently West Point isn't sending out emails today, just posting SLE status on each candidate's profile.

See you guys this June!

Congratulations! Glad my suggestion could help make your day!

AC11,

Just a heads up when you decide to contact admissions: everything is done on eastern time, so add on the three hours- chances are you won't get ahold of anyone past 2pm pacific time. It won't do you any good to contact them when you get home from school/practice since most people don't like staying around the office until 8pm at night.

Candidate Portal vs Email

The email said to "sit tight for a couple of weeks" if you choose to except, the candidate portal on the oother hand already has all the forms, so would it just be best (as I'm assuming it is) to wait for a follow up email?

DD's Portal was updated today with a letter indicating that she was temporarily placed on the SLE wait list and would be informed by 4/15/13 if they could host her this summer. Did anybody else get this letter today? Up to this point, we hadn't heard anything from West Point.

Yes, DS got the same notification on his portal. A post from Admissions on the SLE facebook page indicated that they did send out rejections, so being on the wait list is a good thing. How many are on the wait list, though, I don't know.

Only 500 slots, so what's the turn down rate? 10%? A lot of schools are still in session the first week of June. My son could certainly get out of school that last week, and I'm sure others would make that decision also to go and experience USMA. But, a few might not.

The SLE selections (500) have all been sent. As people decline these invitations others will be receiving offers. With an approximate (yet to be determined) 85% acceptance rate, about 75 more invitations will be sent to people on the waiting list within the next 30 days or so.

My DS still has not received any correspondence from WP about his status for SLE... anyone else still not heard anything?

My DS still hasn't heard anything either. Anyone have any idea how many applicants were put on the waitlist?
