SLE Dilemma

I am currently looking for advice or if anyone has any past experience with the respective summer seminars of the different academies. I have been accepted to all three and as of right now am signed up for USAFA's and USNA's, which are right after one another. I am trying to figure out if I should go to USMA's the week before, and go to all three in a row, or if that would be too much and I would simply be burned out by the end -- and perhaps not end up enjoying the last one. I want to experience USMA as SLE seems like such an incredible opportunity (as do the other seminars) but am not sure if I want to go at the expense of not enjoying USAFA's summer seminar because I would be so worn out after three weeks.

So is there anyone who has any advice or who would like to share their experiences with SLE or NASS or USAFA's SS? Were you very worn out by the time you returned home?

Only you can judge your stamina and whether or not you can mentally handle this. Go to the ones you are most interested in.

Congrats on being accepted to all three! I've never been to SLE/any summer seminar but if I were accepted to all three and were available to attend all three I would definitely go to all of them. This might be a bit off topic, but you might also want to check when Boys State takes place in your state. It may overlap with one or two of the seminars. The seminars/SLE don't help you get into the academy but Boys State does(quite significantly I've heard), but since you got accepted into all three seminars, I would guess that you are already a very strong candidate.

My son went to all three last summer. He enjoyed all of them for different reasons and in the end it helped him decide which academies he wanted to focus on. From a mom's point of view, he did seem a little tired by the time he hit the third one but he rallied. He was very glad he went to all three because had originally placed USAFA as his first choice, but just loved Annapolis and the culture at USNA. In the end he didn't even apply to USAFA and was more focused on West Point as his second choice.

Which academy are you most interested in attending? 2nd most interested in? Can you afford to attend all three? They will be very different experiences from each other. Each program is a great opportunity to see the SA and get a taste of what it would be like to attend. Also, depending on where you live, the region may be totally different from what you're used to (are you coming from the West Coast and have never lived in snow?). Go to all three if you can -- it may help with your decision when applying/accepting, or at least help you determine if one just doesn't feel right.

DS attended all three and it had a major impact on his choice. Attending 3 back to back was not tiring if in reasonable shape like you want to be anyway. Get on an early schedule and it will help.

I would heavily recommend attending SLE if seriously interested in USMA based on DS's experiences.
