SLE vs. SAT

I don't think studying for only one or two hours a night is going to cut it. .
The way you typed it here it looks like you are saying studying one or two hours every night isn't enough studying....
I'm not saying to do a practice SAT a night for a month. But I would suggest doing 1 per night the week before. i had a lot of time to do all the studying i listed and not everyone has that sort of time
I would highly recommend the OP and everyone else to NOT do this. You don't begin running 26 miles a day every day the week before a marathon do you? No, you don't. The same is true for the SAT. Don't try to cram in a bunch of stuff the week before the test, it doesn't work. You will just tire yourself out. Begin studying early and you will do well. I studied over 100 hours in the few months leading up to the PSAT. My score jumped nearly 40 points. Why? Because I started studying early, not the week before the test. The SAT is not the type test that you can cram for the night before(or in this case the week before) and do well.

Just take the ACT I'm pretty sure it's later in the month and it's usually easier for students. Also don't do a test per might learn the concepts an practice cramming will just stress you and make you more tired.

I would absolutely take the ACT as well, why wouldn't you???! At academy day they said take both and see which you are better at, then strive for the best score! These tests are like training for a marathon, not a sprint however. I will say that my daughter is accepted to Norwich and due to an ACT test scheduling where she was working to specifically reach a milestone, she turned down their paid visit for accepted students due to the fact she was working to raise scores to benefit herself at USMA. Remember that USMA (and a lot of universities) super score. So focusing on subjects that you need to raise in is usually acceptable on any given test.
When is the deadline to accept SLE? I would take some practice tests and see where your scores are to help make a judgement call on yes or no based on where you stand in the practice test? You still have time to take the ACT and SAT after SLE....so personally, in your shoes I would have my dd go to the SLE given the limited number of accepted students! I do suggest only using ACT and SAT published materials when taking the practice tests. We found that others like Kaplan, Princeton and the like would divert off what was really on an official ACT or SAT test and you are wasting your time!!!! You can search online for old tests that are published and print them off. My dd specifically needed to raise her math, so after knowing this, we worked only on math and scoring the math sections to suit our needs. Be sure when downloading the PDF's from the internet that they say they are official. Also compare the years and tests as well, we surprisingly found that the material was repeated on some of the tests - at least for math every, few years!!! Here are some links where we found ours.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant you can study 1 or 2 hours a night the months preceding the SAT but I would still recommend after studying for those months that you take the SAT everyday the week preceding the real SAT except for Friday night where you will only do two sections: your two worst sections. If you have any doubts that my method does not work, I jumped 350 points using my way, and no I did not have anywhere near a low SAT score to start with. Yes, Princeton Review, Kaplan, etc are a bit inaccurate, but they do help to improve your understanding and reading ability in the CR section. But remember, if you are confident about your scores, I would highly encourage you to go. I'll be there!!! If you want any advice, feel free to pm me. just my thoughts btw.
