SLE

Nope! Still "Pending" and in session 4(?)!
DS has same SLE Status: "Pending (Jan 15, 2015)" listed in portal under SLE tab but no "noncommittal correspondence" or "no correspondence" remarks as other posters have indicated. It lists "Session 4" with his ranked workshop selection. He's still holding out hope and would be very excited to learn that he could attend. I know he isn't alone!

No idea what session 4 could be? I guess we will all know by next Wed. Did anyone else's happen to say that before accepted or denied? Have they denied anyone yet? It seems everyone has either been accepted or pending.

does anyone know whether they are only looking at sat, act, or psat scores at this point to determine who gets in?

They look at a lot more than just your test scores....

Your GPA matters, your class rank matters, you athletic extracurriculars matters, your non-athletic extracurriculars matters; you probably won't get in if you have a 36 ACT with a 1.2 GPA and no extracurriculars.

Also, in an earlier thread you said "im just going to intervene becuz obviously these other people don't know what they are talking about. yes you do need to send in your scores" after another poster and I said that one could simply self report. Well, I have been accepted to SLE and I did not send in any of my scores... Speaking of what you said, I wasn't offended, but it was kind of unnecessary IMO to say that "obviously these other people don't know they are talking about".

im sorry i know i shouldnt have said what i said, and that came at a moment of weakness. my sincere apologies if i offended anyone. as for sending in your scores, you probably got accepted because your psats were high, and they did not require you to send in your psats for official eval (i asked them about this). but supposed my class rank is fairly high, gpa fairly high as well, then do you supposed that it would boil down to sat scores more than anything else?

I think your test scores are a big part of the application, but I honestly wouldn't the best person to ask. If you have good grades and a good SAT but no extracurriculars, I would guess that you wouldn't get in. I got accepted like right after I added that I was going to Boys State on my application, which is like a really big extracurricular. I don't think the main reason I got in was because of my academics. My class rank is a bit below average by WP standards(I go to a competitive school, not sure if they factored that in for SLE) and my test scores are pretty good but they aren't anything extraordinary.

Getting into SLE is no indication of your future at West Point so don't stress about it too much :) but they're really looking for well-rounded leaders! Good luck!

I've also heard that they aren't simply taking the best xhundred candidates, so I don't think being accepted or rejected is an indication that you are a strong candidate or a weak one. SLE is cool and all but if you don't get accepted it's not the end of the world.

i ask because my brother got in with only a higher psat score than me and a higher class ranking (i believe he was top 1% of his school while i am just 10%) with almost no other dissimilar extra curricular activities other than 1 or 2 clubs than me.

Please learn how to use a shift key. And just in case, today's fun fact is that phones have them to.

Ok, So I have not sent my SAT scores from the March 16 exam, should I send them? I am still pending, and I am in session 4. I applied January 15 (when it opened up) but I'm seeing all these other people get accepted.

What is Session 4? Could that be a wait list for Sessions 1 & 2? The USMA website says "approximately 500 students are selected to attend SLE for each of the two sessions." Last year there were two sessions; in 2013 there was one session of 500 students because of the sequestration.

If you're still on the cusp (ie wait list) and haven't gotten a yes or no yet, it wouldn't hurt to send in your most recent SAT/ACT scores (assuming they're good). Admissions will want to see them eventually, when the rest of your application opens up.

My son and I both use
This acct for this forum/ posts.
I just looked on his WP acct and he is still pending session 2 which is what he applied for. He is only taking the ACT again next week so has no other scores to update with other than what he already has sent. No reference to a session 4. Only official correspondence is the "noncommittal file " that was sent to him via email and was posted on his dashboard which he is following to a tee.

Anybody else?

Did everyone get a noncommittal file? Because on my candidate profile, I have no official correspondence and I'm a little worried..
