My son received a letter informing him that he is on the waitlist for SLS. He is disappointed but hopeful of being selected from the waitlist. Does anyone know the size of this list? Is there anyway of knowing where he is on the list? Also, does anyone know how much movement there is off this list? In short, does he have a chance? I have been taking him to hockey and football games at WP since he was 7 years old. Thanks.

My daughter also received the SLS waitlist letter--am curious about her chances as well. Not sure how many are on the list and what amount of kids have gotten accepted off the list from years past.

Not sure on the wait list procedures. I imagine there is a formula just as there is for admission. At least this is what I'm told. They can fill it quickly for some candidates, especially from the far reaches of the country or if a candidate is well prepared for completing expectations.

I am awaiting a waitlist letter or admission as well. Nevertheless, I'll keep my goal in sight if I don't make SLS. Other threads discuss some candidates who don't attend SLS when the get LOA.

To Dog: Good chance of acceptance if attending SLS, yet still in the hunt if not invited. Not sure on yearly percentages. Believe WP rebalances formula slightly as they decide what kind of student/officer they are seeking for the US.

Good luck

I'm not sure about others, but I got accepted to SLS and I can't go due to my parents not letting me so I'm sure someone is going to get off the waitlist. In addition, I've been talking to other candidates who have gotten acceptances and they are waiting for the NASS acceptances to come out, so I expect that once NASS sends out some letters, a lot of people on the waiting list might actually get spots at SLS.

Good point Jen. That's extremely true, although NASS has more weeks than SLS, so more schedule planning can be made.

National Waiting List
-Will eventually be composed of about 1700 candidates (plus or minus 200) all of whom have a nomination and are 3Qd (all qualified) by West Point
-West Point ranks these people from 1 to 1700
-About 400-450 people will be given offers from this list
-You have until Feb 29 to provide info that will improve your standing on the list (new SAT scores etc)
-Your Regioal Admissions officer will probably give you general information where you are ranked on the list
-Over 1000 on this list will not be offered admission

BigNick, You got the wrong list. They are talking about SLS.

I'm curious for those who got a wait-listed letter, on the USMA portal, when you log in and look near the top where it says "Home", "Overview", "Nominations" etc - Do you now have a "SLS" one too? And if so, when you click on that, what does it tell you?

I know that those that did get Acceptance Letters HAVE this "SLS" tab.....

My daughter's portal has remained the same...I think it will only change to include SLS if she comes OFF the waitlist.
