snow days

We have been snow bound since Monday. 8 inches in Northern Alabama. Unheard of. Going a little stir crazy though. Schools cancelled for the whole week.
There goes our summer!
Just heard a snow plow go down the street. Don't think we have ever had a snow plow on our street before.
That said - I love the snow!! It is SO beautiful !! Give me snow covered ground vs brown grass any day. :thumb:

I think snow is great! when I’m not walking home through a foot of it:eek::yllol:

:shake::cool: 80 degrees again. This sucks, we never get snow days. Oh well gotta find my summer shorts. They say it is going to be like this for a week.:shake:

Will trade also. "29" inches and still shoveling. Looks good though up in the hills. Two days off from school with the wife and last home kid was a nightmare. If you ever want to see something funny watch an airman from Florida driving a mountain road in his first snow in the middle of Oregon. Hey! The speed limit was 55.

So where's the "I hate you" smiley?! :shake:

Okay, I leave in just 6 days for Florida for my kids' band trip to Disney World. I can make it! :thumb:

I'll take snow over mosquitoes, yellow jackets, and humidity any day!

Ice is what I hate.....don't mind the snow.....but ice is a whole other thing all together. Ice + me in Crocs = broken leg 3 years ago :frown: NO FUN!

Now that DH and I are empty-nesters, it is nice not to worry about what holidays or scheduled days-off our kids are going to have to give up to make up for the missed school days. It is also nice not to have stir-crazy teenagers who insist they know how to drive in snow and must get to Chick-Fil-A or die!!!

@Dixieland: My 15 year old thought it was a perfect time for a snow driving lesson. I told him there was no snow on the road, just 1" of solid ice, and only idiots drove on it.

......or my neighbors who are from above the Mason-Dixon line. Well, they tried to drive on it....but ice doesn't respect where you came from! LOL! They ended up being housebound like all the rest of the locals! Hope they had plenty of milk and bread! I did---I know what to do when they call for snow!

He can drive at 15! In MA we dont get a permit until 16 cant drive alone until 16 ½ and cant drive friends until we are 17.

It snowed last night.
In the deep South.
For the 3rd time since Christmas day.
Unbelievable.
Love it!
So beautiful.
But beautiful is expensive.
Just got the utility bill from the last two snows.:eek:
Still going to enjoy the pretty view of the white covered ground and go grab an extra sweater and some hot chocolate. :thumb:

USNA DAD 2014,:hammer:

And to the airman from Florida, I can only imagine! Are all pilots bad drivers? My dad was always watching the sky and pointing put various aircraft as we went along! "Oh say, there's a Beachcraft such n such, don't see those often,,,," it was especially bad around airports such as,,, o'Hare

Watch the road dad!

I think the wind chill this morning in Indiana is -5. Lovely

Seen snow for 5th straight day here in Central Vermont, MCW seems to be getting some good training in. Snow caves went up around the lower fields last night.

Here in New Hampshire, there is no such thing as a permit. You can start driving at 15 with an adult and your pasport, to show your age, but no permit. You can get the real thing at 16. But then again, New Hampshire really doesn't have laws to begin with. Live Free or Die!

Local Schools here in NH got their 2nd snow day this year. Yet, the administration here at my boarding school feels that now ammount of snow can make for a snow day. Now snow days in 3 years that Ive been here.

We have had two snow days. One day we only missed the last class because freezing rain was expected to get real heavy, and on top of a few inches of snow (that fell while we were at school, and we have to walk outside between classes:thumbdown:) is fairly dangerous.

Isn't it great? There is something about weather that unites people? 14 inches last Sunday and now we have about another 6 inches on the ground today with more coming tonight. I can bet that we won't even have a late start. Ice is what brings South Dakotans to their knees. Anyone know what it is doing in Annapolis today? DS won't answer his phone....must be sleeping in during the Dark Ages.

it's been snowing here in Shanghai also, and hoping to get a call into DS Sunday afternoon. That always seems to be the best time to catch him.

We were up in Annapolis yesterday. It wasn't snowing but it was cold and windy!

8 degrees this morning here in Michigan. I would rather have 8 inches of snow. This single digit stuff is murder.

MIHOSER- I am going to persuade my husband to jump in the RV and head Northeast for a little sunshine and R and R in your state. It was 9 below zero on our way to church today. See you soon!
