So close to wire and Application Status still shows Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board Review (Not Complete)

My daughter's bears den portal still says that the review board is not complete yet as well. It said her app was under review at the beginning of February. I haven't heard a word from anyone at all yet about anything. She also applied to USAFA. We haven't heard from them either yet. I am a single parent home, so it really would be a blessing for her to attend an academy. My prayers are going up for everyone who is waiting for an appointment 🙏🏻❤️

The portal updated at midnight EST for my DS (deferred from EA). He was not offered an appointment, nor the scholars program.
On to plan B or C and reapplication next spring. Heartbroken for him. However, a chance for him to learn and persevere if this is what he truly wants.

Feeling for you. This has been a long haul for these kids and this outcome is hard to take. Maybe we'll see you at self prep. Wishing your student the very best.

Same for my DD! Woke her up at 6am to open it. Lot of work they put in and then the waiting. She will be happy to have a summer and Plan B of Aeronautics and AFROTC will work out just fine for her.

For those of you that are Waitlisted and moving forward with Plan B options (other than academies), are you accepting at a college/university and paying housing deposit? I've read varying responses as to negative connotations if you accept at a college and then later decline, for example, once you've been pulled off the waitlist for one of the academies. Thoughts?

For me, yes.
Accepting scholarship, roster spot for sport and paying housing deposit. Also accepting spot on CGA waitlist.
At this point I've done all I can. If its meant to be for me, it will be.

Accepting scholarship, spot on the swim team, and paid housing deposit. If my DD gets pulled from the waitlist we will simply be out the deposit. She has explained to her plan B school that she would still accept an appointment if it were to happen.

Worst case you’re out any deposits you had to pay which in the grand scheme of things would be insignificant if picked up for an appointment. There are many stories of schools who are understanding of the situation and refund the deposit.

Good luck!

Other than losing the deposit, which usually isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things, what negative connotations are you worries about? Unless you DOR (drop on request - i.e. quit) during swab summer or fail out the other college's opinion of you is irrelevant. And even then you probably have bigger problems than your plan B school not wanting you anymore.
