Good evening. My 16 year old son is a junior in high school and very active in Marine corp JROTC. He wants to attend the Naval Academy and I have been studying the process for 2 years. Next Thursday we will go to Annapolis for a Junior Candiate visit. Very thrilled for this opportunity but feeling lots of anxiety about the process. The more research I do the more I feel that getting an appointment is impossible. Now I have found this forum and reading that getting an ROTC scholarship is impossible as well.

Any encouragement???

Welcome Navy Seal Mom.
What you ought to be taking from these forums is not discoragement but the knowledge that it's a tough road to get into one of the Academies or a Scholarship. But You should also be taking away the knowledge that it's neither impossible NOR is there only one way to make realize your son's ambitions. For example VMI had two selectees from this graduating class go to BUDS. So make sure that you just keep looking at all of the options out there - and as you can see from the forum there are a lot more than you might realize. Where there is a will - there is a way. So hang in there and welcome aboard!
