So, what's an AF guy to do in Annapolis?

I would say that is about two half lives of memory. Probably was 'original'.

Most of the ones which are 'notable' to me, the ones I remember, are definitely company produced.

Sadly, most of the ones they seem to play on the big screen at the games are the big-budget ones. Probably more of the stinking, vile, wretched legacy of the accursed JEFF FOWLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:unhappy::unhappy: :unhappy:

Funded from a mega million dollar slush fund contribution by Universal Studios.

You may be correct. Us Navy fans go for the football and go inside at half time, when many of the videos are shown, to warm up. Woops probably stay inside during the game and only come out pre game to judge the march on and at half time to judge the videos.

Oh wow! How original! Too bad BJ Hall was an '03 Grad, so USNA's only about four years behind on that one. How creative.

WEAK!

Just another example of squids trying (and failing) to be more like their betters at the more senior and more respected academy.

This would be the one founded in 1802 at an old revolutionary war fort?

The one with 208 years of tradition, unhampered by progress? :yikes:

Better that than 50-something years of manufactured "tradition" and some Soviet architecture!

Long Blue Line? :wink::thumb:

SOVIET architecture? I think not...

I'm "guessing" you're referring to the famous Nike Jesus Missile System (search this one for internet lore...)

Supposedly in the '60's a reporter asked a USAFA cadet why there were 17 spires on the chapel?

The cadet in the FINEST traditions of the service, and understanding fully that a reporter probably wasn't interested in the finer designs styles of a modern chapel, as opposed to some monolithic relics of the middle ages, explained fully why there were 17 spires.

"Sir...there are 12 spires, one for each of the apostles in the Bible, they are placed there in reverance."

What about the other 5 he was asked?

"Sir...the other 5 are for the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

There endeth the interview. :thumb:

As for "manufactured" tradition...well, when you're late to the dance I suppose anything you do that's original would be considered "manufactured" by the old and the stodgy.

Of course, we DID break with "manufactured tradition" of yellow rings and modernize with white gold...oh, rings? Did I say we had them from day ONE while our esteemed senior service academy had them after...what....33 years?
(Let's give them credit though, they were the FIRST US University to have them)

Nah...we just saw what we liked from our counterparts, took those as examples, and then of course we made them better! :shake:

Uh, no. Sijan Hall...it's like a Khruschevka

Of course you use white gold for your rings...you used your allotment of yellow gold on this monstrosity!

Oh man....WHO would be so stupid as to ruin a fine pistol doing THAT to it?

Oh, that's right...the USAFA AOG during a fund raising...

I have...nothing to say to this...just...nothing. :barf:

I understand that three statues were recently erected at the Air Force Academy honoring some of their own graduates. I think that is great. Back when I was stationed at Fort Carson in the 90's, I always felt a bit sad for the USAFA cadets we sponsored that the only monuments on their campus were to officers who had been trained by the Army. It is nice to see that they finally have some heroes besides former members of the Army Air Corps and West Point grads like Hap Arnold.
